I use my platforms to advocate for the global PR of African cultures and customs and when this photo was shot, it was to promote Benin bridal fashion and accessories. The Benin bridal look consists not just the clothing material but also hair and makeup, and the white handkerchief prop. The idea was to ensure the story of Benin bridal culture’s regality was faithfully represented in such as way that whoever sees it sees beyond just beautiful fashion, and sees a respectable tradition of grandeur- all presented as an art. The photo is titled “One Man’s Dream”, because the Benin groom dreams of such a regal bride that is so much of herself and her culture that she seems nearly too much for one man to have- and yet one man does, because in the Benin culture, the bride cannot be married to two men. So the man’s dream is valid- and possible. Bu even then, all he has in the bride begins only as a dream.
