Our History explores the theme of layers by presenting Nigeria as a nation built from accumulated moments, voices, and achievements. The artwork transforms Zuma Rock into a symbolic national monument, featuring the carved faces of Obafemi Awolowo, Fela Kuti, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and Wole Soyinka; figures who represent different layers of Nigeria’s political, cultural, intellectual, and artistic history.
Around them are visual echoes of defining national moments, from Olympic triumphs and the global recognition of Agbani Darego to the civic movement of the End SARS protests. Together, these scenes form a layered landscape of memory, showing that Nigeria’s identity is shaped not by a single event or person, but by the many experiences that continue to build upon one another.
