I have long been fascinated by the rich cultural diversity of Northern Nigeria, particularly the traditions of its many underrepresented ethnic communities. While the Hausa culture is widely recognized, the North is home to numerous other people, each with distinct languages, customs, histories, and artistic expressions that often remain unseen by wider audiences. Through my photography, I seek to bring visibility to these overlooked cultural narratives and celebrate the remarkable diversity that defines the region.
This project begins in my hometown of Southern Kaduna, where I am documenting traditions that have shaped my own identity and community. From there, my vision is to expand across Northern Nigeria and, ultimately, contribute to a broader global conversation about cultural heritage. By preserving these moments through photography, I hope not only to document living traditions but also to foster appreciation, understanding, and pride in our shared cultural legacy.
