This artwork was born from a period of personal reflection and emotional awareness. Recently, I found myself experiencing a range of emotions (tiredness, moments of happiness, sadness, confusion and even anger/pain. Despite all these internal shifts, life continued as usual. I still showed up, worked, interacted, and contributed, just like everyone else.
That realization led me to a simple but powerful thought:
this is not just my experience, it is the reality of many people.
In everyday work environments, especially in co-working spaces, individuals come together to achieve shared goals. On the surface, everything appears structured, calm, and productive. However, beneath that surface, each person carries their own internal struggles, emotions, and silent battles.
This idea became the foundation of the artwork.
The piece presents a group of individuals seated together at a shared table, symbolizing unity, collaboration, and collective purpose. Their forms are abstract and faceless, intentionally simplified to remove identity and allow viewers to project themselves into the scene. Each figure represents a different emotional state; tiredness, genuine joy, sadness, confusion, and anger/pain.
While they all appear to be working together externally, their internal realities are revealed through exaggerated back drops behind them. These back drops serve as a metaphor for hidden emotions, the parts of ourselves we often conceal in professional or social settings. In this contrast between appearance and backdrop , the artwork highlights the duality of human experience:
what is seen versus what is felt.
The choice of a minimal, abstract, and slightly surreal style was deliberate. By reducing detail and focusing on form, composition, and emotion, the artwork emphasizes feeling over realism. It invites viewers to pause and reflect, not just on the scene, but on their own experiences within shared spaces.
Ultimately, this piece explores the idea that co-working is not just about collaboration of tasks, but coexistence of emotions.
It is about how people, despite carrying different internal worlds, still come together, function, and move forward.
