My Black and White Story was born from a personal conviction that some of life’s deepest truths are found in its quietest moments. In a world increasingly overwhelmed by noise, speed, and constant distraction, I wanted to create photographs that invite people to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves. Black and white became more than an aesthetic choice; it became a language. By removing colour, I discovered a way to reveal emotion, light, texture, and the essence of human experience with greater clarity.
As I photographed ordinary streets, strangers, and everyday encounters, I realized that every journey carries unseen stories of hope, resilience, loss, healing, and renewal. These moments often go unnoticed, yet they speak to the universal experience of being human. Rather than searching for extraordinary events, I became interested in the quiet beauty that exists within everyday life and the courage it takes to continue moving forward.
The recurring presence of the moon emerged naturally as the heart of the project. More than a celestial body, it became a quiet witness to every story, a symbol of peace, hope, continuity, and spiritual connection. No matter where we are or what season of life we are passing through, the moon reminds us that light is never truly absent. It does not wait for us at the end of the journey; it accompanies us with every step. This belief, inspired by Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” became the foundation of My Black and White Story. Through this body of work, I hope viewers discover that renewal is often found not in dramatic change, but in the quiet decision to keep walking, keep believing, and keep finding light in the ordinary.
